The Dr. INVIVO 4D2 from ROKIT Healthcare is a professional desktop bioprinter that is aimed at effective biofabrication of human tissue models and implants. Featured extrusion-based 4D bioprinting precisely dispenses living cells and biomaterials layer by layer, resulting in complex structures that imitate native human tissues and biological systems. Since they are often further incubated, the dimension of time makes it 4D. The technology is generally defined by automation, biomimetic architecture, and on-demand biomanufacturing.

Despite its enormous capabilities, the Dr. INVIVO 4D2 is engineered with a compact build chamber and footprint, making it perfectly fit for small lab facilities. Alongside increased accuracy and decent print speed, the machine ensures advanced temperature and pressure control as well as compatibility with a wide range of biomaterials, including cell suspensions, hydrogels, thermoplastic filaments, and more.

Among other smart features, the printer offers a completely sterile working chamber equipped with an H14 HEPA filter, UV lamps for quality disinfection, temperature display, and HD camera for remote monitoring. Apart from this, the machine comes with proprietary integrated software with flexible printing parameters for any customly created material.

Due to the aforementioned properties, the Dr. INVIVO 4D2 is a great tool for professional use in scientific, medical, and bioengineering spheres, from in vitro applications in novel product screening, disease modeling, and animal alternative experimentation, to in vivo uses in tissue transplantation and regeneration.

Print quality

The Dr. INVIVO 4D2 is capable of printing layers at 100 microns, which enables you to produce biocomponents with consistently smooth exterior surfaces.

The machine is supplied with several extruding options depending on the version you choose. They are: syringe dispenser (nozzle size — 100–600 µm), filament extruder (100–400 µm), and hot-melting pneumatic dispenser (100–600 µm, Premium only). Intended for different material types with varying temperature and pressure demands, these tools provide extended freedom of design for the printer users. 

Overall, the Dr. INVIVO 4D2 supports printing temperature from -20 (optional) up to 350 °C and a pressure up to 9.7 bar with dedicated temperature control and air compressor powerhouses supplied with the main unit as a part of the Upgrade and Premium versions.

Materials

The Dr. INVIVO 4D2 printer is compatible with freeform cell suspensions, hydrogels, thermoplastic filaments, pastes, and other composite materials, enabling both hard and soft tissue engineering. Among these materials are PCL, PLA, PLGA, Polyurethane, Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid, Gelatin, Pluronic Acid, Chitosan, and more.
