The Raise3D E2CF is a professional dual extrusion FDM 3D printer optimized for carbon fiber-reinforced filament. Like its predecessor, it features a steel flexible build plate with BuildTak and uses the same IDEX technology, which stands for Independent Dual Extruder. This means that the extruders can operate independently of one another along the same axis during printing to perform more advanced functions.

Designed for printing carbon fiber composites, the Raise3D E2CF sports a feed mechanism with a dual direct drive extrusion system featuring high-hardness gears, which ensures faster and smoother printing and reduces the wear of the mechanism. Another important novelty is twin standalone dry boxes for filament that effectively prevent dust and moisture from affecting the material. The calibration system has been upgraded with a high-precision optical sensor improving the accuracy of bed leveling.

Print quality

The Raise3D E2CF industrial 3D printer can print layers at 10 microns, making for extremely high accuracy and detail. Its print head travels at up to 150 mm/s.

With two specialized functions, independent dual extruders can save effort and time, doubling production capability within the same timeframe — Duplication Mode uses both extruders to print a model and its exact copy, while Mirror Mode prints a model and its inverse simultaneously. Thus, such a print head allows one to double production capability.

The E2CF comes stock with a default 0.4 mm nozzle providing the best balance between speed and detail. You can easily swap it for an optional 0.6 or 0.8 mm one to achieve the print speed and quality your project requires.

Materials

The Raise3D E2CF is engineered to reliably print with independent dual extruders in carbon fiber-reinforced filament. The material is notable for low density and high strength, as well as resistance to corrosion, static electricity and high temperature. For this printer, Raise3D offers its new industrial PA12 CF filament along with the corresponding support material. The device is also compatible with other high-performance carbon fiber-reinforced filaments certified by the Raise3D Open Filament Program — PA CF, PET CF, PPS CF from BASF and LEHVOSS.

The printer is equipped with a heated print bed and enclosed build chamber. The plate can heat up to 110 °C, and the maximum extruder temperature is 300 °C. The new silicon carbide nozzles boast outstanding wear resistance and thermal conductivity, lessening the abrasion caused by printing carbon fiber filaments.

The Raise3D E2CF prints with 1.75 mm filament, providing you with a wide choice of materials.

Build volume

The E2CF offers a fairly large build volume of 13 × 9.4 × 9.43 inches (330 × 240 × 240 mm) for single extrusion printing and 11.6 x 9.45 x 9.45 inches (295 x 240 × 240 mm) for dual extrusion mode, which allows you to print a sizeable model in a single job or produce several small/medium-sized ones. The flexible build plate makes it easy to avoid damage when removing parts printed in carbon fiber-reinforced filaments.

Printer controls

The Raise3D E2CF has a 7-inch color touchscreen with a resolution of 1024×600 pixels, enabling you to comfortably operate the device and be aware of the current status. By the way, the system is equipped with a power loss recovery function and a filament runout sensor that save the print job in the event of outages.

Also, the printer has a camera that operates by connecting to RaiseCloud to keep track of the process of print jobs remotely.

3D models can be printed from a computer via USB, Ethernet, or over Wi-Fi.

The printer features an embedded Linux operating system and comes integrated with the ideaMaker slicer. The program runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. It supports STL, OBJ, 3MF, OLTP, and G-Code file formats.
