The EinScan Pro 2X 2020 is a professional handheld Structured Light 3D scanner. It is an improved version of the EinScan Pro 2X that boasts a larger scanning area, upgraded Handheld HD scanning mode for better accuracy and high speed, and new alignment modes that let you align the data based on features as well as markers. Efficient and versatile, the scanner is extremely easy to use, besides, it comes ready to scan out of the box. Its handy and lightweight design makes it easily transportable, just like a laptop, so you can enjoy plug-and-play installation and unlimited scanning experience. As part of the 2X series, which also includes the Pro 2X Plus version, the EinScan Pro 2X 2020 boasts its rapid scan speed of up to 3,000,000 points per second, high accuracy,wide compatibility, and expandability. With a minimum point distance of 0.2 mm, this high-precision 3D scanner is able to create astonishingly accurate renders that reflect all the intricacies of an original. It operates in four versatile scan modes and can be expanded with two additional modules to meet an even wider variety of 3D scanning challenges. 

The recommended object size range for the scanner is between 300 and 1000 mm. When using the Tripod and the Turntable Add-On, you can scan objects between 30 and 300 mm.

Scan accuracy

The EinScan Pro 2X 2020 is a portable handheld 3D scanner that delivers high precision scans and captures data up to the last detail. It can achieve an unparalleled level of accuracy up to 0.04 mm, which, paired with a max. resolution of 0.2 mm means that this 3D scanner will be a great choice for a wide variety of projects, including the most challenging ones. You can use the markers supplied with the EinScan Pro 2X 2020 scanner to enhance the volumetric accuracy of the scan even more.

You might also choose among a variety of alignment modes such as feature, markers, turntable coded targets, and manual alignment for better performance.

Scanning modes specifics

Scan volume

The EinScan Pro 2X 2020 handheld scanner has a scan area of 150 × 120 mm—250 × 200 mm and works at a minimum point distance of 0.2 mm. It can catch accurate details of either small and medium-sized objects: from 3 to 100 cm (with the turntable and tripod add-on pack) and from 30 to 100 cm (without the turntable and tripod add-on pack). 

Addons

In case you wish to upgrade the Einscan Pro 2X 2020 handheld scanner to have even more functionality, you can add the Industrial Pack and/or Color Pack to your order.

The Color Pack add-on provides you with an additional HD camera that lets you take full-color scans while also capturing the texture of a scanned object.

Up next, the Industrial Pack addon for the EinScan Pro 2X 2020 includes an automatic turntable and a tripod, completing a setup for rapidly-paced fixed scanning larger objects (between 3 and 30 cm).

Scanner controls

The Pro 2X 2020 compact handheld 3D scanner operates through a plugged computer. The device has been integrated with an intuitive UI that lets you perform scanning with ease, let alone the fact that the model weighs just 1.13 kg, allowing for quick and easy transportation.

Software

The Einscan Pro 2X 2020 handheld 3D scanner comes bundled with the EXSCAN PRO, the in-house software suite aimed at user convenience and an easy 3D scanning experience. It has been designed to streamline the overall process by providing a solution for 3D scanning management with a wide variety of post-processing tools for reverse engineering (automatic and manual hole filling, polygon simplification, smoothing and more). With a brand-new UI and workflow, including new operation mode option, users get a faster scanning experience with printable data output and set the resolution option afterwards during the data processing, which greatly improves scanning efficiency.

The program supports a variety of formats, including STL, OBJ, PLY, ASC, and P3. 

Moreover, the scanner is supplied with the Solid Edge SHINING 3D Edition. It is a 3D design software that can be used to assist with reverse engineering, generative design, convergent and synchronous modeling.

For mesh editing, we strongly recommend acquiring theGeomagic Essentials software for its many tools to analyze and clean mesh data. Scan data is often-times imperfect, meaning there might be holes and imperfections in the data that you'll be scratching your head on how to fix. The ExScan software and SolidEdge do have a toolkit for fixing meshes but it is not as extensive or automatic as in the the GE. You will save a lot of time with the full Scan to CAD process with Geomagic Essentials in between, not to mention it is much more effective at working with large-sized files. The standard CAD software suites such as Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor, etc. tend to have problems with large mesh files.

There are two ways the Geomagic Essentials software can help with reverse engineering. If your focus is on solid modeling you can use the GE to extract CAD data (surfaces and solids) and curve data (wire-frame geometry) from triangular meshes (scan data). The region and feature extraction toolkit will help you extract faces or bounded surfaces and export into an IGES or STP format. The curve drawing tools will help you extract wire-frame geometry and export to IGES format. These two datasets along with the scan file are essential for a reverse engineering workflow. The NURBS surfacing tool also helps create a lightweight CAD model that you can export to an STP file for SolidWorks. This is especially helpful if your focus is on free-form modeling because you can freely manipulate the surface data in the Geomagic and most CAD programs.
